Gdańsk Business Run on WHEELS sets the wheels in motion!

On 9 August, Gdańsk Business Run on Wheels – a press conference chaired by Agnieszka Pleti from the Gdańsk Business Run Foundation – was held on the 7th floor of Alchemia’s ARGON building. Ms Pleti spoke about the Foundation’s mission, how business relay teams bring people together and about Corporate Social Responsibility done on many levels: participating in, organising and supporting the event.

Many warm words to support this noble cause were said by the City of Gdańsk representative, Piotr Kowalczuk, Gdańsk Vice-Mayor for Social Policy. Mr Kowalczuk said he will be cheering for his colleagues that will be taking part in the run, admitting that he feels proud of their decision to participate in the event, as it supports the very idea of his institution’s commitment to social responsibility.

As a city, we keep on demonstrating that both social and developmental projects are possible to take place in Gdańsk because there are among us people who have innovation and development on their minds. We have people, companies and a community organisation, with the city facilitating the process.

Representing the main event sponsor, Adam Fabianowski (GLS Poland, North Region Director), talked about the three-year partnership with Poland Business Run. Mr Fabianowski promised several attractions in his company stalls in the GLS Fan Zone.

As the main sponsor of Poland Business Run we will do what we love best. We will provide positive energy, smiles and happiness to the runners and all who come to the event to spectate!

Also in attendance was Monika Truszkowska-Bednarek, President of the Ergo Hestia Integralia foundation. Ms Truszkowska-Bednarek declared her organisation’s support with the very first edition of GBR on WHEELS wheelchair race. Ergo Hestia is a company that well understands the importance of physical and professional activity for people with disabilities, having supported the cause for 14 years. From the employer’s point of view, it is important to treat people with disabilities as valuable employees. The benefits of employing and engaging people with disabilities are potentially enormous. These people have a great influence on the teams they work in, especially that, when it comes to sporting rivalry, they really set the bar high.

The GBR 2018 beneficiary, Marek Wesołowski, agreed, saying that „sport tempers the spirit” and is the best form of rehabilitation. Mr Wesołowski talked about his passion for basketball and his great team that continues to motivate him every day. He also revealed his future sporting goal – participating in the Paralympic Games!
