On 14 November, Gdańsk hosted its first Pomeranian Entrepreneur Day, with numerous events held for industrious students and young people. One of these events was an urban planning game partially held at the Torus office. The event was organised by the Regional Labour Office in Gdańsk
The event aimed to test the participants’ skills in cooperation, communication, creativity, planning and information analysis. On that day, each participating high school and university student team had to visit five locations in the city where they needed to perform various tasks. At the Torus office, three teams (made up of students of German language, sociology and those in the Investment Society) were able to show off their creativity. Their task, which was revealed to them on-location, was to come up with an employee recruitment campaign for a local courier company.
The students had 15 minutes to prepare a short presentation. The teams turned out to be very diverse, approaching the task and assuming project leadership in different ways. The slogans they had come up with were very interesting and creative, sometimes going beyond their recruitment goal and into courier services, but their arguments were sound and logical. The jury, made up of Torus’ Małgorzata Dąbrowska and Monika Serafin, and Iwona Piotrowska from the Regional Labour Office, provided the students with evaluation and valuable feedback.
The students visited other locations that day where different tasks awaited them. These included designing skis and planning a two-day event for potential investors, where the event agenda was to dramatically change at the last minute. One game location was situated at State Street in Alchemia. The business-oriented challenge was won by one of the female teams from the University of Gdańsk Investment Society. The winners were presented with their awards at the University and will be able to pursue a professional business relationship with companies like State Street and Staples. We are certain that many of our student participants have fantastic marketing careers ahead of them – congratulations and good luck in the future!
