On 12 March, students from the University of Gdańsk and Gdańsk University of Technology took part in workshops organised in Alchemia as part of the Torus LINK series of events, this time dedicated to Human Resources. The participants got to know the working environment of global recruitment companies located in Alchemia, receiving useful advice.
As it is tradition with these workshops, the event kicked off with a meeting with a Torus employee - this time with Małgorzata Dąbrowska from marketing. Ms Dąbrowska gave the students a quick background of who we are and what we do, and outlined the events and networking opportunities that make up Torus LINK.
The students then proceeded to the offices of Alexander Mann Solutions, where two presentations took place, dedicated to Business intelligence and AMS Recruitment Process Outsourcing, respectively. The students learnt what it is like working in Business Intelligence and of the challenges that would face them, should they decide to pursue their career in this field. They were shown some modern data analysis and presentation tools like OBIEE, VBA and Power Query. They were also shown the state-of-the-art Power BI technology, which allows real-time, interactive data analysis.
In the following part of the meeting at AMS, the students received a sneak peek into a typical workday of a recruitment outsourcing specialist. They met with experienced professionals who shared their knowledge and inspired the students to consciously forge their own career path. Our young visitors were also told what kind of skills are sought after among university graduates entering the workforce. Finally, the students received tips on how to secure a job at many global companies like Deloitte, CitiBank, Rolls-Royce and Microsoft.
The group then proceeded to the offices of ManpowerGroup Solutions. There, the students learnt how recruitment professionals spice up a CV to give it the most clicks and how to use social media in one's career development, in order to increase one's chances of getting that dream job. International recruitment practices were also discussed.
The workshop participants included students from the University of Gdańsk social sciences department, management department and student society, as well as the Gdańsk University of Technology science, technology and construction society.
