In January 2020, Gdańskie Wydawnictwo Oświatowe (GWO) will be relocated into the Neon building in Alchemia. The publishing house will lease over 2,500 sq. m of space, signing a five-year lease agreement with Alchemia developer, Torus.
The publishing house has been open since 1991. Today it is primarily known for its ‘Matematyka z plusem’ series textbooks for Mathematics which is used by 65% primary school students. GWO also specialises in textbooks for early education, Polish, History and Physics, as well support books, learning materials and multimedia content. It also sells educational computer software for Mathematics, Polish and History students. Since 2015, it has been publishing children’s books (as Adamada), finding recognition among young readers and critics alike.
GWO is involved in several initiatives beyond the education sector. One of them is the LEPSZA SZKOŁA (Better School) project designed to improve teaching efficiency and preparation of students for placement exams. Another is AKADEMIA 30+, a not-for-profit learning academy aimed for working professionals, organising lectures, workshops, concerts, recitals, excursions to theatres and museums, and trips to Poland and Europe.
We are pleased with the latest tenant to move into Neon. We believe the new office will ensure the publishing house has the right conditions for ongoing development.
Marcin Dejna, Torus Deputy Leasing Director
Neon is the fourth and final stage of the Alchemia office centre. The building offers over 35,000 sq. m of leasable space, including 33,500 sq. m of office space. Its ground floor will house several shops and retail services, including a preschool for approx. 100 children. The space between Neon and its Alchemia sister building, Argon, will form a pedestrian throughway with access to dozens of restaurants and retail services, creating a unique space to meet, eat and unwind. Every Alchemia building is certified under the US-based LEED system, having attained the highest possible grade - Platinum. Alchemia was designed by Warsaw architect studio APA Wojciechowski.
One of the leading Polish office developers, Torus has delivered over 160,000 sq. m of lease space to the Tricity office market as part of several investments, with more on the way (Officyna, Format). The company has completed six sales transactions of its office properties to five different funds (five Arkońska Business Park buildings and three stages of the Alchemia complex) for a total amount of nearly 280m EUR. This makes Torus responsible for the majority (approximately 65%) of the total office transaction volume realised by Tricity developers.
